What should I wear?

Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Saxby's has a new bamboo floor which is slightly more slippery than most hardwood floors. Although the space is air conditioned, it gets warm when lots of people are dancing.

Do I need a partner?

Not at all! If you come to the lesson, you will meet people during the lesson. We are super friendly and are always excited to have new people. The culture of swing dancing, where people usually only dance one dance with each partner, makes it easy for newcomers to meet people and be included in the community.

What types of music and dance steps will I find at this dance?

This dance focuses on Lindy hop & blues dancing, which is what we teach in the lessons, although you will certainly find people doing other types of steps as well, including Charleston and East Coast/Jitterbug. Most of the music tends to be on the slower and more mellow side, appropriate for blues and slower lindy, although there is a diversity of styles and tempos of music.
